Our Sixth Form students were celebrating last Thursday as every single student secured their first choice University courses following their A Level results. From Animal Conservation Science to Physics, and from the University of Aberdeen to the University of Oxford (via the University of Louisville in Kentucky!), the Grindon Hall Class of 2016 have bright futures ahead.
Over two thirds of year 13 students achieved a C grade or above. Faye Wright secured her place on a Masters degree course in Civil and Coastal Engineering at Plymouth University after passing her A Levels in Geography, Physics and Maths. Faye has spent the last two years studying for her A Levels alongside her part time job as an auxiliary nurse at a local NHS hospital. Whilst completing her A Levels, she participated in a World Challenge Expedition to Borneo along with her fellow students, and involved fundraising and planning before the trip and then a three-week expedition, which included climbing Mount Kinabalu.
On passing her A Levels and securing her place at University, Faye commented, “I have loved my time at Grindon Hall and all the opportunities it has offered me. I particularly enjoyed the Sixth Form and the small and friendly atmosphere. I feel it’s helped me get ready for my time at University. I can’t wait to get started now.”
Mrs Beadnell, Head of Sixth Form, commented, “We are absolutely delighted that all students who were intending to continue their studies at University, have achieved the results they needed to secure their places. This is testament to the hard work and the focused attitude of all our students and the staff who have been supporting them throughout the last two years in the Sixth Form. We are very proud of them.”
